FAQs

How do I calculate our sales win rate for the quarter?

Divide deals won by deals closed, which is won plus lost, and multiply by 100. A team that won 18 of 48 closed proposals in a quarter has a win rate of 37.5%. Leave open deals out until they close. Use the same rule every quarter for when a deal counts as lost.

Should our comp plan pay a kicker on win rate?

Pay one only alongside a minimum number of closed deals. A kicker on win rate alone rewards a rep who wins 4 of 5 easy deals, at 80%. A rep who wins 12 of 30 hard ones, at 40%, earns less. Write the floor and the stage rules into the plan, so incentive compensation management applies them the same way every cycle.

Why is our win rate by value lower than our win rate by count?

It means you lose larger deals more often than small ones. A team winning 37.5% of proposals but 30% of quoted value is losing deals that average ₹21 lakh against wins of ₹15 lakh. Look at pricing, approval delays and who leads big proposals. Sales performance management shows this by rep and deal size every period.

Should open deals count as losses when we calculate win rate?

No. Count a deal only once it closes, won or lost, or the rate falls every time the pipeline grows. Decide in writing when a dropped deal counts as lost, such as 60 days without activity after a proposal. The sales pipeline calculator then uses your win rate to value the deals still open.

How much pipeline do we need to hit our target at our current win rate?

Divide the target by your win rate by value. A ₹3 crore quarterly target at a 30% win rate by value needs ₹10 crore of qualified pipeline. The sales velocity calculator adds deal count and cycle length to show how fast that pipeline turns into revenue.

How do I compare win rates between reps fairly?

Compare reps on the same deal size band, the same stage rules and the same period. Small samples swing: for a rep with 5 closed deals, one result moves the rate by 20 points. Read win rate beside deal count, and use it to coach each rep on the stage where their deals are lost.
