Lonza is a global partner to the pharma, biotech and nutrition markets, with 30+ sites and 17,000+ employees. Its sales incentives cover sales reps, business development officers, account executives, customer success teams and service engineers, across geographies and currencies. Crediting, KPI data, exceptions and queries ran through spreadsheets and email. Kennect went live in 2 months. Lonza now runs incentives on one platform, with a real-time dashboard, a query module and recorded exceptions, and overpayment of about 3.5% has fallen to zero.

Lonza calculated life sciences sales incentives in spreadsheets, once, at payout time. Reps could not see their targets or earnings during the cycle, or what to focus on to earn more. Senior management had no easy view of payout analytics either.
Everything else ran over email. A target adjustment for a supply shortage needed approval from several managers and then an incentive committee, all on mail trails. Incentive queries were answered by email too, so the team had to pull up queries from past months at year end.
The structure of the sales team. A deal at Lonza can involve sales reps, business development officers, account executives, customer success teams and service engineers. Each role has its own KPIs. Its share of a deal depends on gross margin, order value, brand category and whether the business is new or a renewal.
Add multiple geographies, and incentives calculated and paid in different currencies. The KPIs behind them sat in different systems, so admins chased several owners for data, and payees checked several portals to track their own numbers.
Lonza wanted every part of the process in one place: data, crediting, calculation, exceptions and queries. A tool that fixed calculation but left exceptions and queries on email would not close the gap.
Lonza also looked for a partner that understood how its business works. Custom workflows, the simulator and nudges weighed in the decision.
The principle Kennect built around: one source for anything related to incentives, from the KPI data to the last query.
Incentive leakage has stopped, and overpayment of about 3.5% has come down to zero. Payees check their latest incentive data and payout amounts on a real-time dashboard, and shadow accounting has fallen sharply. HR and Finance now work from the same incentive payout data, including forecasts and plan fairness scores.
When supply runs short, a rep may ask for a target adjustment. That request needs approval from several managers and then the incentive committee. Kennect holds each deviation case in a dedicated data collection, so the adjusted target and its effect on the payout stay traceable for audit-ready incentive payouts.

Book a demoEach role receives a share of the deal under a crediting rule. The rule weighs factors such as gross margin, order value, brand category and whether the business is new or a renewal. At Lonza, Kennect runs these crediting rules for sales reps, account executives, customer success teams and service engineers on one engine.
Each payee's incentive is calculated under their plan and paid in the currency that applies to them, from one shared set of rules and data. One engine avoids separate country files that drift apart. At Lonza, Kennect calculates incentives across geographies and currencies, and overpayment has come down from about 3.5% to zero.
Calculate every payout from one source of data and rules, and record every exception that changes it. Overpayment can come from manual crediting and untracked adjustments, which a single system removes. At Lonza, Kennect brought overpayment of about 3.5% down to zero.
Through a defined approval path and a stored record of each approved change. A target change for a supply shortage, for example, moves through managers and an incentive committee, and the result is kept against the payee. At Lonza, Kennect holds every deviation case in one data collection for audit traceability.
They tell each rep which KPIs to focus on to earn more, while the cycle is still open. Personalised notifications and emails replace waiting for a payout to learn what mattered. At Lonza, 83% of surveyed participants said they felt more motivated to perform after Kennect's nudges.
